This could work.

Downey, Jr. can act, and as long as they keep the cops away from him so that he doesn't get busted for drugs during production, they might have a good movie.

I like that they didn't go with a Brad Pitt/Nicholas Cage/Tom Hanks/Ben Afflack type for Iron Man, but they went with a lower tier actor that can do the job. And not he is not a pretty face either, so that would be another nice take on it.

I am going to have to see who the director is though.

Jon Favreau who directed Elf and co-produced Swingers...and looks like he is also directing an Edgar Rice Burroughs story John Carter of Mars. Which, if they get the Steam Punk/Pulp/Golden Age Sci-Fi right, could be a ton of fun.
