Holiday weekend in review
Transformers = Some Assembly Required…forever. Really, the things do not have the best of instructions of how to transform them from vehicle to ‘bot. The View on the instruction panel of either the front or the side when a ¾ perspective view of the ‘bot would have been far more helpful. One the plus side I became very good at “transforming” Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and a purple one back and forth for the nephew that wanted them. Now they are my Step-sister and Brother-in-law’s problem.
Bwuhahahahaha! ;P
Plus side number two, no batteries.
I think I am in lust…
Woman working at Super Market in the Meat department, attractive with a marvellous English accent gave me a pound of bacon….free. So to review, Attractive, English accent, free bacon…swoon! ;P
Every time I leave…
Every time I left home this weekend, the helpful folks of the HoA decided that My parking spot needed to have the rest of the parking area’s snow ploughed into it. So, I would come home toss the snow back where it came from and packed what was left down by driving back and forth over it. So annoying.
Snowmost gone…
Most of the snow has evaporated/melted and only about 8” to a 1’ remains. There was a bit of a Chinook the other night and that did quite a bit of good of making the snow go away, just in time for another projected 8” Thursday night.
Watching and reading….
Watched the Commentary tracks of Deadwood. Molly Parker was mostly useless in it and said “Uh-huh” a lot. The last one (of season one) with Ian Mc Shane and Tim Olyphant was the best of the bunch.
Rented Disks 2 and 3 (the 6 copies of disk one were out) of the second season of Battlestar Galactica. Pretty good stuff and having seen the first Ep of season 3, I could see how it a lot of things from season two were fore-shadowing what looked like the theme of Season three was going to be. At least from the Are Humans better than Cylons, or are they the same perspective. For the most part I would have to say that Cylons and Humans are pretty much the same based on what was shown. The annoying part of missing disk one was missing some of the lead up, and disk three ending in a BIG cliffhanger was very annoying.
One the plus side, again 90% of the deleted scenes should have been shown since they had a lot of plot in them, so I was glad to watch them. Also, Lucy Lawless looks odd with Blond hair…just saying…that after years of seeing her as a brunette it was a bit disconcerting to see her as a blond.
One thing that is going to take some doing is that the writers are going to have to do a better job of NOT making any new character they introduce a Cylon Clone, otherwise you will just assume that they are and the whole Are They or Aren’t They game is lost.
I started Varley’s Red Thunder…wow…another great story by him. He always does a great job of creating interesting characters, odd ideas, fun concepts and mixing them all together into a great read. This one is a bit more rollicking and not as “deep” say as Steel Beach, but then Steel Beach took 352 pages to get to the plot.
Omelette for the weekend (along with the free bacon)
Some of the Egg Nog
Mexican Oregano (in the eggs)
Feta
Chives
Nova Lox.
Mmmm…good. :)
