*More* things I am looking forward to…

Just for the whole unattended consequences entertainment value of it all.

So, the SCotUS has decided to revisit the whole 2nd amendment thang again now that the Conservatives have control of it, and the argument seems to be boiling down to one side saying “Well Regulated” and the other side arguing “individual” rights. Now the last time this whole mess was looked at (Miller v United States) it was over the banning of sawed off shotguns and what was the minimum length, etc of a sawed off shotguns. At that time the SCotUS said that the government could regulate firearms, and so now shotgun barrels need to be over 18.x inches long, you need a class 3 license to buy or sell machine gun (as a business and manufactures won't ship to you without one as an individual), etc and various types of weapons can be Regulated by law.

1) Machine guns - this includes any firearm which can fire more than 1 cartridge per trigger pull. Both continuous fully-automatic fire and "burst fire" (ie, weapons with a 3-round burst feature) are considered machine gun features.
2) Short-Barreled Rifles (SBRs) - this category includes any weapon with a buttstock and either a rifled barrel under 16" long or an overall length under 26". The overall length is measured with any folding or collapsing stocks in the extended position. The category also includes weapons which came from the factory with a buttstock that was later removed by a third party.
3) Short-Barreled Shotguns (SBSs) - this category is defined similarly to SBRs, but the length limit for the barrel is 18" instead of 16", and the barrel must be a smoothbore. The overall length limit remains 26". 4) Silencers - this includes any portable device designed to muffle or disguise the report of a portable firearm. It does NOT include non-portable devices, such as sound traps used by gunsmiths in their shops which are large and usually bolted to the floor.
5) Destructive Devices (DDs) - there are two broad classes of destructive devices. The first contains devices such as grenades, bombs, poison gas weapons, etc. The second contains any non-sporting firearm with a bore over 0.50" (many firearms with bores over 0.50", such as 12-gauge shotguns, are exempted from the law because they have been determined to have a legitimate sporting use).
6) Any Other Weapons (AOWs) - this is a broad "catch-all" category used to regulate any number of weapons which the ATF deems deserving of registration and taxation. Examples include smoothbore pistols, pen guns and cane guns, short-barreled weapons with both rifled and smooth bores, etc

But of course this has stuck in the craw of the Right Wing of this country since that time, and now they have an opportunity to challenge “Regulation” with the D.C. hand gun ban. And as I said, I am looking forward to watching the silliness that will be the outcome of the D.C ban being overturned. So, if it is over turned, then will Denver’s ban on the transportation of firearms through the city fall as well? Will Boulders law of the safe storage of hand guns fall? Will the concealed carry laws fall (as in it will be completely legal to conceal carry without the training and license as is the case now)?

And, the amusing part, will the National Firearms Act 0f 1934 which “Regulated” the above weapons be declared unconstitutional. Should be fun indeed for us all if that is the case, as every Right Winger in the country goes around armed like Characters from a RPG.

Good times, good times.
