We have a pair of Pelican's Pelicans fishing in the pond out back this morning....it was wonderful to see them swoop in low and land.

It's pelicans not pelican's. No apostrophe for plurals.
I don't live close enough to water to see them very often but they are beautiful birds.

Haven't seen pelicans down at DW, but we do get ducks and Canada Geese (which are also fun to watch land, either on the water or on the ground).

When I lived in So Cal, a lady from Boston came to San Diego and wanted somebody to show her the birding hotspots. I got the day off and drove down. At one beach, we found a flyway where pelican after pelican would swoop in from the see in a grand arc. We stood there as sailed past, wingtips only inches from us. It was an amazing and unforgettable moment.
And Dave, thanks for not saying "Canadian Geese"! wince every time I hear that. :)
